Holiday Cottages near Stirling

Fordhead Farm has three self-catering cottages situated on the banks of the River Forth amid spectacular views of The Trossachs. Located just 1 mile outside the picturesque village of Kippen, with it's historic buildings and traditional pubs and restaurants, yet within very easy reach of Stirling, The Trossachs, Loch Lomond National Park, Glasgow and Edinburgh , they provide the ideal central touring base for your holiday.

The Granary, recently converted from a lovely, traditional, sandstone barn which originally housed a threshing mill, now provides extremely comfortable and superbly appointed accommodation for 4-5 persons. 2 double bedrooms both with ensuite shower rooms. The spacious walled patio provides the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and the sunset over Ben Lomond!  The Granary has accommodation for 4 - 5 persons which consist of a spacious living room with French doors leading onto the walled patio and views over the Trossachs. Relax and enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching our Aberdeen Angus cattle graze peacefully on the banks of the river or marvel at the spectacular sunsets over Ben Lomond to the North west. The kitchen area is very well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. Two large double bedrooms both with ensuite shower rooms and TV. The Poppy Room has a king-size bed, while the Mill Room has super king-size bed which can be converted to twin beds as required (this room can accommodate a fold down bed for third person if needed). It has full double glazing and central heating throughout and towels and bed linen are provided at no extra charge.

Fordhead Cottage provides spacious accommodation for 4-5 persons attached to the main Victorian traditional farmhouse. The cottage has two double bedrooms both with ensuite shower rooms. The private patio and delightful garden provide the ideal spot to relax and unwind. The master bedroom which has a traditional, wrought iron, king-size bed. The ensuite shower room is the height of luxury with its cosy, underfloor heating. The second bedroom can have either a super king-size bed or twin beds to suit your requirements and has its own private, spacious shower room. Further accommodation can be provided by means of a fold up bed if required. Both bedrooms are equipped with TV. The living/dining room is extremely spacious (approx. 18ftx18ft) and comfortable with ample seating and dining space for six persons. A TV and video are provided. French doors lead from this room directly onto the sheltered patio (equipped with table, chairs and barbeque) overlooking Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and surrounding countryside. A small private enclosed garden provides either, a safe place for children to play or, a spot in which to relax and enjoy the tranquility. The kitchen is modern, fully fitted and equipped to a very high standard including dishwasher and microwave. The washing machine is located in the private shower room The cottage is double-glazed and has full central heating throughout.

The Tool Shed, recently converted, traditional, sandstone barn providing the most luxurious accommodation for a couple and the ideal retreat for a romantic break, relaxing holiday or as a base from which to explore the surrounding area. The Tool Shed is light, airy and extremely spacious and is equipped to the highest possible standard. The most outstanding feature being the craftsmen-built, wooden spiral staircase leading from the lounge area to the mezzanine bedroom. The Tool Shed provides accommodation for 2 persons (or 2 persons and young infant in cot). Tiled entrance porch with pew seating and ample room for coats and boots. Kitchen area is equipped with dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer. The lounge/dining area with its comfy sofa and chairs and dining table is the perfect spot to relax and unwind and simply enjoy the lovely views from the windows. Here, traditional architecture with it’s 2ft 6in thick walls and antique, stained glass meet modern technology with the electrically operated Velux blinds, flat screen TV and CD player!

The all-wood, white ash, spiral staircase and balustrade leads to the mezzanine bedroom with king-size bed and fantastic views over the river, Ben Lomond and Kippen village. The large shower room is situated on the ground floor and is equipped with washing machine. The Tool Shed has full central- heating and double glazing. Adjoining The Granary, The Tool Shed has it’s own private, sheltered patio with table and chairs and barbeque and provides a lovely spot to enjoy the fantastic views. 

All cottages are non-smoking establishments.

Dogs are welcome although, as this is a working farm, we would appreciate if they are kept under strict control. There is ample opportunity to walk them on the river bank. £10/week/dog.
Tennis – We have an all-weather tennis court which is available for guests use during their stay.
Home produced meals: Delicious, home made food can be arranged for your arrival or at any time during your stay. Please ask for details.
Hot Tub - Relax and de-stress in the hydrotherapy massage hot tub which is situated in its own private cabin with fantastic views over the Trossachs, just the thing after a long days sightseeing or walking. Available for
