Self catering in Autlbea

Drumchorkhttp://www.thejotter.co.uk/availability/drumchork/ Farmhouse offers self catering in Aultbea overlooking Loch Ewe and the village itself.  The farmhouse is a traditional stone built, two storey building with views over Loch Ewe and the Minch from all the windows.  It has 3 bedrooms. Accommodation comprises:

• Double bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet
• Bathroom
• 2 Twin bedrooms
• Breakfast room with adjoining kitchen
• Sitting room Cooking is by gas, heating is electric
• The Lounge has a wood burning stove - peat and wood will be supplied for a slight charge
• Fridge/ freezer, Dishwasher, Microwave, Automatic washing machine, Tumble drier, TV
• Bed linen and towels are provided
• Cot and High chair is available on request
• Electricity is via a £1 coin meter
• Non smoking, and regrettably no pets

From the Farmhouse you can see the outline of the Isle of Lewis visible on a clear day.  It was built in 1881 and was once part of a working farm on Letterewe and Gruinard Estate. Hill-walking and rock climbing abound, Torridon being 45 mins drive and Dundonell 20 mins. There is a 7  mile track to Fionn Loch ( no access for vehicles) near the house where views over fresh water lochs and heather clad hills can be seen, showing the isolated parts of the Highlands within 15 mins.  There are excellent opportunities for walking throughout the area and numerous sandy beaches locally. The scenic village of Ullapool is within 1 hour's drive with its sea views and rugged mountains.  The Caledonian McBrayne ferry departs daily to Stornoway and the Isle of Lewis, (there are frequent sailings during the Summer allowing you to go out and return the same day. Phone their office for details).  The village of Gairloch is 15 mile distant where Pony trekking, guided mountain walks, Kayaking and daily marine wildlife cruises are available. Beinn Eighe nature reserve is 45 mins drive towards Kinlochewe. The renowned National Trust for Scotland, Inverewe Gardens is in its secluded position at Poolewe.

Wi-Fi is available within most of the farmhouse - suitable for emails etc (but not for heavy downloads since there is a D/L limit).

Between the months of Dec - June the solid fuel Rayburn in the house may be used using peat and wood. Guidance can be given if needed
