Bumblebee Cottage Bed and Breakfast in Dornoch stands on an elevated site with beautiful scenic views over this historic town. The house has 1 Bedroom + your own Living room. Your suite of rooms will ensure your stay is a home from home visit. Tea and coffee facilities are supplied with bottled water and shortbread too. There is also a television, hairdryer and a few little extras to make your stay enjoyable. After a long day travelling or sight seeing relax in a feather bed with the finest linen to ensure a good night's sleep. Your ensuite shower & bath room provides you with plenty of towels and a selection of toiletries. We produce all our own fruit and vegetables from Bumblebee Kitchen Garden and small orchard which we sell from home, at the local farmer's market and to local eateries. Our hens will provide you with the freshest eggs you have tasted for your breakfast.
In the evening you have exclusive use of the dining/sitting room where you can relax and watch the television or plan you next day's trip from the many leaflets and brochures we have. If it is a chilly evening there is an open fire to warm and comfort you. You are welcome to stroll around the extensive garden grounds and stop awhile on the many seats that are positioned for admiring the glorious views. If you prefer you can sit on the veranda and enjoy the setting sun.
The area around Dornoch has lots of wonderful places to visit, some of them within walking distance. The beach is only a fifteen minutes walk away and a short drive will take to some lovely local walks. Loch Fleet is a bird reserve where you can watch the seals basking on the sand or swimming in the sea and you might see some rare sea birds here. Skelbo wood is run by the Forestry Commission and is a sculpture nature trail; watch out for the fantastic wood carvings of various animals that have been done along the walk. To the east the sea can be clearly heard as the waves break along the shoreline and the Tarbet Ness lighthouse stands proud in the distance. On a clear day the Cairngorms provide a majestic backdrop to this view. Golfers can be seen playing on the Royal Dornoch Golf Course with hole 5 clearly visible.
Bumblebee B&B also looks down onto Dornoch Cathedral with its clock tower standing proud in the town, and when it is lit up at night, highlights its full beauty. To the west the hills of the Struie tower above the landscape and it is well worth a drive over the tops of these. Dornoch has a jail and castle, the jail is now being used as a shop but you can see the cells which were once used. The magnificent Cathedral where there are often people on hand to tell you the history of the place is a visit not to be missed. Antique and curiosity shops are amongst the many shops you can browse around. There are also plenty of places to eat whether it's a snack you require, a pub meal or something special there is lots of choice. Further afield, the City of Inverness is only 50 miles away. It has a superb theatre and cinemas, with lots of shops and places to eat. Further north, the Cast of Mey is a beautiful place to visit and if you're up that far you should visit John o' Groats. Of course the area is well renowned for all of its golf courses with plenty to choose from.
